VISIT A PALACE

Frederik VIII's Palace at Amalienborg underwent thorough refurbishment from 2004 to 2010, and in the future it will serve as the residence of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary. Before the Crown Prince and Crown Princess move in, the palace will be open to the public from 27 February to 30 May 2010.
The public will be able to see the results of the refurbishment, the elegant interiors and the many new works of art commissioned especially for the palace. Visitors will be able to see two main floors of the palace, the ground floor and first floor, which in the future will be used for official receptions.

MEET INTERNATIONAL WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS
The "Q-Entrepreneur Award of the Year" will be presented by the Lord Mayor of Copenha­gen, Frank Jensen, at the City Hall on 15 March 2010. Copenhagen Business Centre invites you to come along and meet women entrepreneurs and hear what they have to say about their business ideas and start-up challenges. The entrepreneur award is given in connec­tion with the "Get Started Programme for Q-entrepreneurs," an initiative launched to spread entrepreneurship among international women in Copenhagen. Women interested in being self-employed have participated actively in a sequence of courses that have allowed them to become
better equipped to think innovatively in relation to business ideas and organisation models. 22 women are well under way to establish their businesses.

The event takes place on Monday 15 March, from 1pm to 4:30pm at the Copenhagen
City Hall - Festival Hall. It is free of charge and children are welcome.

PHOTOGRAPHIC WORKSHOP IN COPENHAGEN

LOFSKOLEN is offering a photographic workshop with GARY FRIEDMAN, an American photographer and author who is mostly known for his books on cameras, but who is also famous for his photographic workshops that are held worldwide. This course is for anyone who owns a digital camera. These two day-long seminars are for anyone who has ever thought: "I spent money on a great camera, so why aren't my pictures any better?" They are geared towards both beginners and experienced photographers who would like to learn more, reinforce what they already know, experiment and be inspired to become a better photographer. All in a fun, friendly and nurturing environment. The workshops will be in English and will take place on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 March 2010. ROCKET SCIENCE WITH NASA

This event is one evening in the company of engineer, photographer and author GARY FRIEDMAN, who has worked at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Among many other things that he developed and patented, Gary
Friedman did an image authentication system, which today is used in Canon and Nikon's professional cameras. Gary Friedman has for many years worked with photography and has written numerous books and articles on various camera systems. In 1985, he made it in The Guinness Book of World Records because he built the world's smallest phone. It will be an evening for technical geeks, but also an evening for anyone who wants to meet an interesting man with many talents that will take us around his world filled with many interesting topics. COURSES IN ENGLISH

LOF and FAMILIESKOLEN now offer several classes in English. In Hellerup, there is a new yoga class and there will be other courses in English coming soon so please keep an eye on their websites: www.lofskolen.dk and www.familieskolen.dk. They offer courses in English in Nørrebrogade for pregnant women and new mothers. These include pregnancy yoga, antenatal classes, postnatal yoga and babybics mother and baby.

WELL INSURED IN DENMARK

There are always a number of practical things to consider when settling down in a new country.
TRYG has worked out a special know-how for people who move to Denmark and they have employees with special technical insurance knowledge. All employees speak English to avoid communication problems and they offer quotations, insurance policies and terms and conditions in English. When living in Denmark, it is
usually recommended that people get a Family Basic Insurance which covers personal belongings against fire, theft, water damage, registered luggage, liability including damage caused during private gatherings and free legal aid. Bicycles are covered as well. In Denmark, three types of insurance policies are also compulsory:

Car insurance (third party liability), Third party liability insurance for dogs and Workmen's Compensation Insurance. In case of claims, they offer 24-hour service.
